My name is Dr. Chas Desjarlais and I am a nehiyaw-Michif educator and scholar working for the Vancouver School Board as the Director of Instruction – Indigenous Education. My traditional name is Helper of Thunderbirds, I am a citizen of the Cold Lake First Nations and a Treaty Six iskwew. I am a proud mother of two beautiful daughters Paige and Kaylyn. I am learning to walk back into ceremony with the help of my guides and elders. I successfully completed my Doctorate of Education (EdD) – Educational Leadership & Policy in the faculty of Department of Educational Studies (EDST) at UBC in November 2024.
